Alternatives to formal care for children of preschool age

The bachelor thesis "Alternatives to formal care for children of preschool age" deals with preschool childcare in the Czech Republic, with focus on its alternative forms. This issue needs to be discussed as the capacity of public nursery schools is insufficient, therefore the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has published Set of Pro-family Measures - Pro-family Package. In this package legalization of new forms of preschool childcare provided at private or non-profit basis is proposed. These alternatives, those that are currently regulated and public nursery schools and crèches as well are described and then the current situation of prepared changes in alternatives to formal care is introduced. These issues are also subject of qualitative research, which constitutes the following part of the text. In this practical part of the text expert interviews were held to explore experience and attitudes of preschool children's parents and carers from preschool facilities about these forms of preschool childcare. According to primary data the positives and negatives of different forms of preschool childcare are identified. The result is that for both parents and carers the child development is important, so they would prefer the increase of nursery school capacities rather than expansion of alternative...

Bachelor's thesis: Current problems of work and family life synochronization in Czech families Tereza Šíchová 2013-05-17 Abstract The bachelor thesis "Current problems of work and family life synochronization in Czech families" deals with situation of preschool childcare. One of the goals is to find the right place for this kind of services in the context of work and family synchronization. Due to bad situation about the capacity of the public kindergartens (which are completely full) it really is necessary to find some other possibilities how to make work-life balancing easier. Because it is a dealbreaker for the parenthood. Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Czech Republic puts forward a proposal of using the alternative way of childcare in the sense of private care. But the opinion about private childcare - if it is proper, available and if it comes up our expectations - is still kind of questionable. That is why there is also an empirical part of this thesis. Harmonization of family and professional life of women with small children living in Prague in 2015

This bachelor thesis focuses on of women´s harmonization of family and professional life. The theoretical part deals with the development and changes of the Czech society and family life after 1989, particularly with population development, household chang-es, women´s status in the labor market after 1989 and also labor market inequalities. The next section of the theoretical part addresses the return of women to the labour market at the end of parental leave. The chapter about harmonization of women´s family and professional life forms the main basis of the theoretical part. This part defines possible alternative instruments coming from states, employers and other providers of child care services assisting parents in reconciling their professional and parental responsibilities. The goal of the practical part was to determine differences in preferences, attitudes and opinions of women with different levels of education. The practical part examined whether university-educated mothers have a greater tendency to give priority to career over parental responsibilities than mothers with secondary or lower education. It also investigated whether university-educated women make greater use of instruments related to child care. The practical part is based on interview surveys and individual conversations. The established hypotheses have been verified and falsified based the analysis of research results. The conclusion proposes recommendations leading to im-provement of the deficiencies in the examined area.
Involvement of women after parental leave at the present labor market

After maternity or parental leave are women one of the vulnerable groups at the labor market. They are presumed to have less time flexibility and lower performance, which result from the expected childcare and housework. The aim of this essay is analyze the level of women's support at the labor market, focused on women returning to the labor market after maternity or parental leave and formulate measures, which could lead to an improvement of their position. In the introduction is discussed the development of the women's situation in Czech society, characteristics risks of the labor market for women with children and current support of women-mothers at the labor market. The core of the practical part is the analysis of family policy instruments to simplify women's return from parental leave to the labor market, analysis of financial support from the European Union and support from employers in the context of corporate social responsibility. There is compared current family policy in the Czech Republic and in other European country - France.
